2019 Smokescreen Paso Robles "The Chemist"
PASO ROBLES
The east side of the of the Paso Robles AVA is warm, and the nights do not get as cool as the western part of Paso Robles because it does not receive the cool ocean breeze. The topography is uneven, with steep rolling hills and a long growing season of warm days and cool evenings gives rise to vibrantly ripened fruit with dynamic flavor profiles that translate beautifully into bold and concentrated wines.
Teroldego is a red wine grape that is grown mostly in the Trentino wine region of northern Italy. It produces deeply pigmented red wines with an intensely fruity character, a style that has become something of an icon for Trentino’s wine industry.
TASTING NOTES
The 2019 Chemist is a blend of GSM, Petite Sirah and our newest member, Teroldego. The Chemist has a deep, inky purple color and aromas of berry cobbler, blackberry and tobacco. On the palate the Chemist is abig, bold, racy wine with tons of black fruits, tar, graphite, and a long finish with ultra-fine tannins. Although powerful, it is nuanced and elegant as Chemist fans expect, and is going to evolve gracefully.
